Not to see the life, death and resurrection of Jesus as embodied in the ongoing American Civil Rights movement shows an arid understanding,if not contempt of the Good News.

What intemperate remarks Mark may or may not have uttered pales to the actions of the three schismatic bishops with whom Mark would stay in communion. Yet these three seek not only to leave but to undermine the Anglican church in America which is the Episcopal church.

Lastly and most objectable is the appropriation of MLK, who would most vehemently attack the lies, murdereous bigotry and segregationist polity of these bishops and their followers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10326675.post-66183250564191112532007-12-09T19:20:00.000-05:002007-12-09T19:20:00.000-05:00rb's view of the gospel reminds me of an observati...rb's view of the gospel reminds me of an observation of an American student in Paris, who could write a well executed essay on Moliere yet couldn't order a cup of coffee on the Champs Elysee. If you insist on reframing the Gospel in terms of the 1960s American Civil Rights Movement rather than the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, you should be aware of how your methods do not match the ways of that Movement. As I understand the life of M. L. King, I do not believe he would attack his enemies the way you attack your opponents; in fact, I have understood that he absolutely refused to do this. He saved his strongest words for institutions, not individuals. Your continual framing of individuals as liars, would-be murderers, etc., does not breed inclusion but polarization -- friends versus foes. Polarization will not produce inclusion. In a way, it will work, of course. People of traditionalist faith will become alienated, and will leave -- as they already are. Your "Gospel of Inclusion" will prevail in the Episcopal Church; no one will be left who would oppose it. But in the end your evil, angry words will be heard much more loudly than the ideals you actually believe -- even though they represent you so poorly.

I'm just saying.

If that "still, small voice" is the real God as revealed in Jesus, and not just a little god-voice inside your head, you just might consult with Him on this.RBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16752701681681717163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10326675.post-23398635757700483282007-12-08T18:12:00.000-05:002007-12-08T18:12:00.000-05:00Where does this leave Fr.
