Executive Council member Katie Sherrod reports all.

So, talent and hard work go hand in hand.  Katie Sherrod, journalist and member of Executive Council, has given a blow by blow account of Canon Kenneth Kearon's encounter with Executive Council on Friday, June 18th. Canon Kearon speaks is a fine bit of writing and is worth a careful read.  Go, read it HERE.

  1. This is very helpful. Sounds like the 'apology' was a joke by a cornered man, trying to create a bit of air to breathe in a hostile environment. Also significant is the interpretation of the answer by Kearon re: 'is the ecumenical disinvite the end of this?' To which our author says, No. She suggests he was keeping the option open of further considerations. This is of course consistent with the Pentecost Letter itself, and explains as well the ire of the PB, who returns to her whistle stop campaign and a visit to NZ (sans cathedral this time; no Kiwi Mitregate). 3. Everyone is trying out the new blogger templates. I tried to use one of my own images as a background but it tiled it instead. Most annoying. So I will stick with the old ones for a bit longer.

  4. It was not a hostile environment unless he took it as such. We were exceedingly polite. To be sure, we did not cave to having the conversation privately which I think totally threw him. And yes our questions were pointed. But the overall atmosphere in the room was one of calmness.

  6. Like the new photo of you, not thrilled about the dark background. Maybe I'm just getting crotchetty.

  7. I agree with Devon. As an older viewer, the dark background of the sidebar is difficult to read.

  8. Caminante--no, not at all hostile ('cat in a room full of rocking chairs' was I believe the description). And the agreement to go public was masterful: it assured that we would hear his every word, rather than some effort to get along with people who had interrupted his holiday to interrogate him. As it turns out, this meant a very frank and careful exchange. We were able to see the real distance between the views of the Communion and those who comprise the Executive Council of TEC. TOH
