Returned to Sender

David Walker aka the Cartoon Blogger, has posted a wonderful cartoon on the contents of Archbishop Peter Akinola's waste paper basket. Early this morning (May 5th) BabyBlueCafe said "We saw the Archbishop, the Rev. Dr. Peter Akinola yesterday and he had not received any correspondence from the Archbishop of Canterbury."

Which leads me to wonder just what happened to the letter, for surely it did not make the Archbishop's waste paper basket. Perhaps what David saw was a fax of that letter, or perhaps an email. But at any event the letter may be in transit to Nigeria, or now on its way back, "Returned to Sender." (Elvis' "Return to Sender" echoes through the mind...)

Here it is:

We still might wonder what's in that letter?

  1. One seems to remember that Akinola also claimed not to have gotten the PB's letter - only having seen it on the Episcopal News Service. Perhaps if the ABC has posted his letter on the Anglican News Service?

Perhaps Akinola is fudging on the 9th commandment? Or maybe there is No Mail At All in Nigeria, given the chaos in that country?

  2. "I don't recall" seems to be a favorite phrase among American neocons. Perhaps Abp. Akinola is doing the snail mail version of the same.

  3. Insufficient postage as far as I can tell. Not marked for air mail either. My guess it might arrive by the end of september.
