The Primate of the Souther Cone passes gas.

The Primate of the Province of the Southern Cone said this to the Diocese of San Joaquin: "Welcome Home. And welcome back into full fellowship in the Anglican Communion."

What makes Bishop Venables the voice of welcome in to "full fellowship in the Anglican Communion."? Does he in fact have invitational rights given him by the Archbishop of Canterbury, or if not him in his weakness, the Primates?

There were reports that Bishop Venables and the Southern Cone's invitation had the special approval of Canterbury. If so, Canterbury is an office without a sensible brain in place. If not, it is a lie. So the issue is, dear friends, did the Province of the Southern Cone or Bishop Venables get the go ahead for taking dioceses into its fold.

If so, the ABC is a disaster. If not Bishops Venables and Lyons (of Bolivia) are lairs.

Either way this is a mess.

  1. It is time for Williams to quit the "She didn't say 'yes', She didn't say 'no'" act.

  2. the ABC told +Howe that it is the diocese which is the real expression of the church and not the "abstract reality" of national churches...... so, it makes sense he would support a diocese making a decision about its primatial oversight within the AC

  4. Oops! Just in from the ABC's office -
Just in from the office of the Archbishop of Canterbury:
"Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams has not in any way endorsed the actions of the Primate of the Southern Cone, Bishop Gregory Venables, in his welcoming of dioceses, such as San Joaquin in the Episcopal Church, to become part of his province in South America." A spokesman for the Anglican Communion said.

    From the Episcopal Cafe:

Seems that someone was fudging the truth.

  5. cb - it is not in chaos already?

Typical ABC-speak..... so, he has not so far but does he actually think the actions are a sensible way forward as ++Venables has said?

Or, can he bring himself to say that he might disagree with the SC actions???

Or will he keep everyone waiting forever until there is no more AC because it simply dissolved under his "leadership"???
