Praying for Gas, and other American religious activity.
Simon Mein, over at SimonSurmises, has just written a short reminder that the business of prayer, its efficacy and relation to both Prayer Book prayer and Creeds is more dicey than it appears. 92% of Americans believe in God, so says the Pew Research Center. But what does that mean? With all these religious folks here's a lot of praying that the molecules will line up so that we can travel without accident, not get sick or not die just yet, yes. But where are the prayers for justice that comes not from our wishes but from God's desire? Read his essay "Gas, God and Prayer." As always, he challenges.
