Gafcon Primates Council in a stew.

David Virtue reports (as of 3 PM):

"Just to keep you all posted: Unfortunately, the Primates are still working on the issues. What I can say is that that the Primates' Council intend to continue along the course outlined in Jerusalem and I will be emailed a COMMUNIQUE as soon as they are ready to release it.

I have been told that there is a kind of transition going on, from a wide and inclusive leadership group (maybe a little 'activist style'?) to a smaller, more formal group of Primates.

David W. Virtue"

Well, David sees it that way. I see blood on the floor and a situation where only the true believers will remain.

Meanwhile, I'm getting ready for tonight's doings in Denver.

  1. Where will Akinola be placed in the Sheep/Goat Stakes? One screen down on the Gafcon home page (http://www.gafcon.org/), the left-hand side-bar incorporates the head and shoulders portrait of a Gafcon primate or political high-flyer. The portrait usually, though not invariably, changes if the page is reloaded, evidently drawing on a linked file of primate scans. Fun to play for a minute or so - a primatial fruit machine. Orombi, Venables, Jensen, Packer, Nzimbi, Mtetemela, Akrofi and, of course, Duncan and Sugden, are there, but never, in my experience, Akinola. If he is in the file, he must be the jackpot of the game - he's never, ever showed up for me. I'm pretty certain, though, that his is not among the linked images. Curious omission?

  3. Fascinating reading over at Virtue-and-not-so-much...some of the commenters are having trouble telling time...boggles the beenie yet I can wait a lifetime, forever or beyond for a newsflash from this Gafcon group of gents for their multiple choice list of trudgers.

  4. Or, perhaps they are trying to get the ++ABC to sanctify what they are doing as the holding pen or pastoral forum that he recommended.... perhaps this is a different kid of coup than we expect...

    I hope and pray not.

  5. Let them have their Night of the Long Knives, I don't care.

I hope I just saw a glimpse of the future in Denver tonight.

  6. Let them have their Night of the Long Knives, I don't care." Counterlight

I don't care what they pull either...but, truly they are more the stab-in-the back switchblade types...machettes are far to honorable (besides they are used to do real and honest work).

Yes, Obama was a smash hit...the whole Democratic Convention was a change I can "be" part of.

  7. The communiqué is now on-line. It is signed only by the African primates and by Bishop Venables.
