Anglican Land's most recent diocese: May we ever increase in laughter

OK...Wounded Bird got me on to this wonderful news. There is a new diocese in Anglican Land, the Diocese of Wenchoster. An amazingly alive (or is it amazing that it is alive?) community, the Diocese of Wenchoster is the kind of place that makes my skin itch. The well developed diocesan website covers almost every aspect of this peculiar, from the snarky directives of the Sacristan to the wonderful joys of the Mandylion Chapel.

Nothing will do but for you to go there and explore. Use the handy-dandy click on map of the Cathedral.

Of course I was not pleased to see Wounded Bird, aka Grandmère Mimi, also produce this picture of Fr. Jeff.

Readers will know that the really Reverend Fr. Jeff is Rector of all Lewes, the village by the bay and the big water. He has never to my knowledge had his hand suggestively placed, or received the suggestive placing in return, let us say mano a mano. Moreover he smiles more than this guy and is never confused about the dates of impending high mucky muck visits.

I have never seen him, as is the case with this guy, caught like a deer in the headlights.

In all Christian charity, let us assume that this Fr. Jeff has his wits about him and that, given the other things going on in the Diocese of Wenchoster, his actions have some redeeming purpose above and beyond what is indicated by the placement of hands and knee.

Visit the Diocese, and THEN tell me there is no joy in Anglican Land.

It all looks very funny to me, but you are correct--that Fr. Jeff is not this Fr. Jeff. Still with all that is going on in the world and in Anglicanland, it is good to take a break and enjoy a gentle laugh.

    peace!

  2. Mark, not that Fr Jeff! Oh! You're here, Fr Jeff. Not you!

I'm sorry to have disappointed you. I can only offer one of my three standard defenses:

    It's not my fault.

    I didn't mean to offend.

Hate the sin; love the sinner.

Choose whichever you think fits the situation best.

Apologies again, Fr Jeff. You get to choose, too.

  3. Fr. Mark, I am surprised that as up on everything Anglican as you are, you had not seen this before! Yes, Mimi keeps us 'abreast' of Fr. Jeff's activities in Wenchoster.

  4. The Vicar of St. Poof's is surprised by a female-what an awkward situation!

  5. Ok so can I tell you how disturbing it is to find a satirically placed picture of yourself lurking in and amongst this wonderfully satirical website. I am blown away at how they actually found the picture, since it has not been on the web for 5-6 years now.

  7. Wait. Fr Sean, this is your picture? Oh my. That must have been a surprise.

Take heart. I've had my picture photoshopped by a priest from across the sea who is much naughtier than the editors of Pharisaios, and I was able to recover and lead a more or less normal life.

So, where does that leave you, Fr Jeff? With your sense of humor intact. All's well that ends well, then.
