Who Are We? A video from the CREDO project

The first of these videos is a very helpful statement. CREDO, a project of the Church Pension Fund produced this video based on a survey done in the last year. It gives some positive sense of the work of The Episcopal Church. I follow that by the video produced by PRELUDIUM and seen some 11,000 times. Both these videos are affirming of the reality that The Episcopal Church, growing, the same, or getting smaller, is none the less alive and affirming of Gospel values.

Watch.

  1. "90% of Episcopalians hold Christ as central"...?

That is something to be ashamed of....in fact I think that Jesus said as much.

How is it that a Christian denomination even asked that question or how did 10% become members when they didn't believe that Christ is all in all?

    "We are hope".

    There might be your answer.
Too much "me" and self-discovery being emphasized in this Church these days.

We are NOT hope. Christ is. Maybe we should evangelize the 10% of our own pews that haven't figured that out yet. How many of these are on the vestries and Standing Committees? In the episcopacy? The survey was utilizing active people, so this is very discouraging. That Social Service kinds of doings get more interest than Christian education and identity.

Hopeless. Just truly hopeless that this is what we are about these days.

  2. You're "of many colors" the same way vanilla ice cream is; a few dark flecks in an overwhelmingly white product.
    Sorry, not impressed.

  3. Allen... glad you got it out of your system.

Why do you even bother commenting when you have so distanced yourself from any possibility that there might be something good to say about The Episcopal Church?

  4. Brad Evans - the notion of The Episcopal Church as white or as the Republican Party at prayer, or governed by all men, or whatever, is not nearly as true in 2009 as it was in 1969 or 1979. Of course the multi-cultural and inclusive effort has a long way to go. Still, changes are happening on a local and church-wide level. And it happens because we think it is important to happen. I suppose that is why we sometimes celebrate it even in its beginnings.

  5. Mark,

I comment in the vain hope that those leaders of TEC who have insulated themselves from common sense or the obvious would have some kind of notion to hear it.

Come on...would any Christian really say "We are hope"?

Why isn't the Executive Committee getting this?

BTW: any clue as to why the ASAs are still private information?
Weren't they supposed to be published in September?
