The honeymoon has been over now for several years. The Presiding Bishop is now about 2/5 through her term of office and most of her abilities and limitations have been tested. The polish is off the crown.
Still in some quite remarkable ways Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori continues to speak in ways that make me proud to be part of the same church with her. Give a listen to her interview on WABE in Atlanta. Go to the link below and click on the audio bar.
WABE: Episcopal Presiding Bishop Says Door Still Open to Gay Bishops (2009-11-16)
Oh my goodness, yes!
ReplyDeleteSolid interview, solid answers (missing the part about interacting with other Provinces when they want to Kill Homosexuals...but hey, it wasn´t about *them* it was about *us* except for the Popes aim being focused elsewhere at The Anglican Communion for crossover business...oh, well).
ReplyDeleteAs you say, a gift to TEC. She is truly the non-anxious presence Episcopalians need at this time.
ReplyDeleteA gift?
ReplyDeleteLike a lump of coal for Christmas.
George
Indeed, Bishop Jefferts Schori is a gift that keeps on giving. Her statement on Uganda has now been released (ENS, Episcopal Cafe, and all the usual suspects....).
