Some time soon England will ordain women as bishops. It is just a matter of time, and time is as always of the essence, because in England time without the decision to ordain women as Bishops is time wasted. So the Synod of the Church of England will take up again the matter of the ordination of women as bishops.
Here is a video by Ruth Gledhill on "Apostle to the Apostles: Women Bishops in the Church of England. Ruth Gledhill has taken up doing videos available on Youtube. Those of us who have found her work for the Times useful and are a bit disappointed that her blog is no longer free are, I am sure, pleased that there is a bit of Gledhill on the air. This interview with Christina Rees is worth the watching. Ruth lists the women bishops already out there in the Communion. It was wonderful to hear the names of so many women I admire. Later she asks Christiana Rees about the comment by The Rev. John Broadhirst that the CofE is facist. Christina was appauled. Christina Rees is a member of General Synod, a writer and columnist for, among other things, The Observer, and chair of WATCH, (Women and the Church).
Ruth is out there plugging away at a whole variety of communications venues, not the least of which is a spare, quite lovely and very modest website with wonderful photographs, short supple rememberances and explorations and a much better picture than the one above. See her site HERE.
