We Are The World: For Haiti rising from the rubble.

Twenty-five years ago the first version of "We are the World" came out. Now there is a new version, powerfully directed towards giving for the recovery of Haiti. It is an amazing video that captures an edge of hope in the midst of the chaos.  It offers one way to give for Haiti.

For Episcopalians there are others - Episcopal Relief and Development in particular - and now the appeal for the rebuilding of the Church in Haiti, an initiative of The Episcopal Church to give for the future of the Church. Contributions to the Haiti Initiative can be made HERE.

Watch the video, and one way or another give for the future of HAITI.

I am experimenting with reading some of my poems, and one, Where Forests Stood, is about Haiti. It is still a work in progress, but getting there.  Here it is.

  1. Mark, it seems your video is in some private category so one can't listen unless connected to you on YouTube.

  3. Unlike 25 years ago, We Are the World was also recorded this year in Spanish by a large group of Latino recording artists, also for Hope For Haiti. It is a translation by Emilio and Gloria Estefan, authorized by Lionel Ritchie and the Michael Jackson estate.

Somos El Mundo 25 Por Haiti was released 1 MAR 2010 on the Cristina Show by UnivisiĆ³n.

Both the English and Spanish versions are available from iTunes to assist in the rebuilding of Haiti.

  4. Mark --we give our 100% of our Christmas and Easter offerings away. Last year, our little church gave over $3,000 to Haiti and a member of this congregation raised enough funds throughout the Diocese of VA to purchase and ship 10 vehicles for Haiti. Thanks be to God!
