Out there in Anglicanland things often seem very very serious and Lent like. Still there are odds and ends of delightful, sometimes good, sometimes just silly, bits and pieces of Anglican life that would suggest that we Anglicans can be dedicated, sometimes foolish, and sometimes just a little goofy. So a sampler.
On the serious side, Episcopal News Service is doing some really good videos on the mission of the Church. One of the more recent is this one on the work of two missionaries in The Sudan.
And, in print form there is Episcopal Journal, the new journal published independently by Editor Jerrold Hames. The April issue has an important interview with Bishop Neil by Jerry Hames, dealing with questions about training for ordained ministry. This is followed by an editorial by Jerry. Good reading! I hope EJ will make some of its own reporting available on the web, perhaps, as with George Conger's articles, some weeks after initial publication.
BabyBlue, who I consult daily even when it makes me wince, has found this video in which believe it or not one can see knit versions of the Archbishop of Canterbury and members of the Royal Family conga dancing. Worthy of the shameless commerce prize for goofy video:
And then, in case any reader ever wondered just why the splinter non-Canterbury centered Anglican way is a mess, read David Virtue's masterful attempt to make sense of the Traditional Anglican Communion's stumbling romp through the fields of orthodoxy and orthopraxy as it relates to joining up with the Roman Catholic Church. As they say, a swell read.
Mad Priest, who boldly goes where no priest has gone before (usually without a living) pointed us to the following poster, and in turn to a wonderful blog.
The poster:
This came from the blog of a fellow Delaware citizen. His blog OnTransmigration is well worth the regular visit.
The link to Virtue is, alas, not.
