How I am feeling this grey day.

(I will of course keep on keeping on, but this is how I feel on this grey day.)

I am sitting this one out.

Peter was faster than the others,
Paul set his sights on the finish line,
Jesus outran them all,
But I lumber along
Back of the back of the pack.

They have all outrun me,
Left me in the dust.

Health and clarity is gone
in the wake of the unceasing trampling footfalls
Of a thousand million true believers
Stampeding in the dry clay of the arena,
Each eager for the goal.

The choking swirl, the cloud by day,
Has hidden the finish line in gloom.
No fire in the cloud is there to guide me home.

I am lost to all the pleasures of the race,
Before the race is done.

Sorry friends,
Sorry dear Lord,
I am sitting this one out.

  1. Sometimes it does seem futile...but, you´re right. I think it IS the opportunity to let God and nature take their course to sometimes sit back and accept what seems overwhelming...a little secret group I belong to says: ¨the answers will come, if we want them..¨ I use that guide in all (mostly) of my affairs.

Thank you for sharing yourself here...you are a great example for me.

  2. Grey days are created to allow those who need to "sit this one out" to do exactly that.

I am joining you this day. Only this day. I'll be back on my feet on Wednesday. Looks like I'll be running by Thursday. Friday, it will be full steam ahead.

But today? Today - this grey day - I'm sitting it out with my favorite shawl and several hot cups of tea and "Caleb's Crossing" and occasional checks into the blogosphere - this last of which is guaranteed to raise at least a few bemused smiles on my face as others carry on the race.

And, raising a few bemused smiles on my face is about as much energy as I'm willing to give the race today. This grey day.

  3. Mark, I understand. We are allowed to sit this one out from time to time.

  4. I love the gray days after they've been and gone. They help me to realise that I cannot do it all but also that I'm not supposed do.
    Letting go is fine.
And the end of it, there's still God.
    Over to him.

And thank you for writing this.
