Something's happening here...what it is ain't exactly clear.

Last week the Archbishop of Canterbury was interviewed in Singapore and said, in relation to Anglican Communion activities leading up to Lambeth:

"I’m hoping and praying that we shall have no more actions that polarize the Communion between now and Lambeth 2008. This is the point I have already brought to the Canadian House of Bishops which we are trying to get across to the American House of Bishops. But also trying to say to some other provinces: Don’t step up the level of intervention in this crisis because all of that is just pulling us further and further apart. So I hope we can have a bit of moratorium on this, and in a way, a reflection on what kind of a church we want to be."

Early this morning I suggested that the end game is under way. I had little hope that the Archbishop's prayers for no more polarizing actions would be met.

As of about 10:30 AM EDT Ruth Gledhill posted "Fort Worth, Quincy break away."
It would appear that by mid-afternoon there should be word that these two dioceses, and perhaps more later, will be declaring that they are out from under the wing of The Episcopal church and in alternative ecclesial structures. Read her article and stay tuned.

NOTE: 3:30 PM EDT. Content of the Times article updated. Now it seems only Fort Worth is on its way out. See revised article HERE.

While waiting, listen to "For What It's Worth," from which the phrase "Something's happening here.." is lifted...

  1. I note she's removed "Quincy" from the headline, though it is still in the article. Does she not know something we don't know?

  2. She has updated her article saying that Virtue reports "Quincy not going anywhere."
