The Province of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui speaks out against GAFCON

The Province of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui is small but its voice has been heard with considerable influence in South East Asia and in the wider Global South - that is the Global South that is inclusive of Provinces in the Global South but not tied to the GS Primates group. Its Primate, The Most Rev. Paul Kwong, has spoken on the matter of the GAFCON (Global Anglican Future Conference and its Primates Council. ENS reports HERE that

"the Anglican primate of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui has criticized the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON), held in Jerusalem this June, for bringing "severe harm" to the Anglican Communion.

Archbishop Paul Kwong said that Anglicans with different opinions on human sexuality issues should address their concerns through dialogue."

The Archbishop was writing in ECHO, the paper of the Province. I do not have the URL to the current issue, but ENS is reporting on the Archbishop's comments there.

Yet another crack in the unity wall of the Global South.

  1. Funny how disportionate the influence given to small provinces remains...
