Bishop Nerva Cot Aguilera of Cuba has died.

The first woman Anglican Bishop in Latin America had died.  According to a posting on Facebook two hours ago the funeral will be tomorrow, Sunday, the 11th of July. Bishop Nerva Cot Aguilera was 71. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
Fallecio a los 71 años de edad la Obispa Sufraganea de Cuba Rvdma. Nerva Cot Aguilera. La primera mujer Obispo en Latinoamerica estaba casada con el Dean de la Catedral de la Habana Rvdo. Juan Ramon de la Paz. Los funerales se realizaran mañana 11 de Julio.

  1. This is really a blow for our brothers and sisters in Cuba. The Metropolitan Council choosing another woman for the position would be questioned, but choosing a man could be viewed as "business as usual."

    May God comfort the church in Cuba for this loss, as well as her family and close friends.

    I pray for the repose of +Nerva's soul.

  2. It is with sadness that I learn of the passing of Bishop Nerva. May the Lord bless the Church as it continues to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
