Sarah has left this field for others.

Sarah, esteemed friend and dog, died quietly sometime between 1 & 3 am Wednesday. We should all be as blessed with a quiet death.

As is meet and right she left a small pee offering and a string of broken hearts .   She left when it was time.   She was a class act.

All is well
.

Before her burial by the tomato plants, which should do remarkably well next year, I laid her down on a board and took a cyanotype  of her shadow. As she lay in the sun while the paper was exposed, I though she looked as if perhaps she was headed off to some new field where the pickings are easy and the wasp never stings. I think maybe she did just that.

"Not farewell, but fare forward, Voyager."

  1. I'm sorry for your loss, Mark. Glad Sarah went peacefully and no doubt she is cavorting in dog heaven even now. Having just lost a pet myself, I know the heartbreak that comes with such a loss. Prayers for you and your family.

  4. You made me cry. That is, Sarah made me cry because she went ahead to check things out in the way that beloved friends and family sometimes do...what a beautiful thing: First to the tomato patch of earthly delight and then on to the Land of Eternal leaps and bounds.
