I should have known.... Dave Walker comes through again! Stand back, BB.
We have all been wondering just what the Souther Cone is, as a Province. Is it small in number (20,000) or large in number (40,000) is it five countries and six dioceses, or is it six countries and seven dioceses, or perhaps in the near future seven countries and ten dioceses? What exactly does it look like, and what is the mapping?
Here is Dave's wonderful map of the Southern Cone. (I reprint with permission and $35 annual subscription to his cartoons.)
Thanks Mark - after your comments yesterday I thought I'd better actually draw something.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, to go back to your yesterday's post: I'm all for ushers bringing the people in the front row things at their merest whim. I'm sure this would encourage more front row sitters which would be good for morale, thereby having various knock-on effects resulting in us all living forever in peace and harmony.
Thanks, Mark. This is great. And so accurate, I'm sure, as are all of Dave's cartoons.
ReplyDeletedoes the southern cone come in different flavors?
ReplyDeleteAnother genuflection owed to Dave Walker!
ReplyDeleteAnd he is certainly onto something: maybe we should forget the theology for awhile and try humor instead. It seems we might find more comonality in that field.
On the other hand, I do wonder: "Do reasserters HAVE a sense of humor or has that gone the way of civility, as well?"
Anyway, I've been training a dove so that the next time they go looking for an Archbishop of Canterbury I shall release my feathered friend and she will make a bee-line and alight right on top of Dave Walker's head!
At least that sort of thing USED to work.....
Here I thought it was a kkk hood!
ReplyDeleteWell, actually, I still sort of thing that.
Willie, of course not! What diverse cones? Never!
FWIW

But, comparing the existing numbers in Southern Cone with the numbers in the dioceses it is gathering in from the US, the area set aside for incoming dioceses doesn't look nearly big enough.
ReplyDeleteWill room be made for them, perhaps, in the bishop's palace?
Not that accurate, Susan. This is the Southern Cone. So it would be upside down, with the cold and creamy part at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Denbeau. Well, I guess that means all the cold and creamy part will end up on the sidewalk!
ReplyDeleteAnd all this time I thought the Southern Cone was Greg Venables's head!
